The Route
Our Bainskloof cycling tours generally start near Wellington, allowing us to focus on the most scenic sections of the pass.
The route follows the winding mountain road into the Limietberg mountains, offering spectacular views across the Wellington valley.
Depending on your fitness level and available time, we can arrange anything from a shorter scenic mountain ride to a challenging climb or an extended ride through the surrounding Winelands.
We adjust the route, distance and pace to suit your experience, with opportunities to regroup and enjoy the scenery along the way.
All routes are subject to current road access, traffic restrictions and weather conditions.

Bainskloof is best suited to cyclists who are comfortable riding on mountain roads, climbing for extended periods and descending confidently.
We adjust the pace to the group and regroup where necessary, so riders can enjoy the experience without feeling pressured to keep up.

Starting Point and Transport
Tours generally start near Wellington.
The exact meeting point and starting time will be confirmed before your ride.
Transfers from Stellenbosch or other locations are not automatically included and can be discussed separately.
Starting Times
We plan our rides around the season and weather conditions.
During the warmer summer months, we generally start early to avoid the midday heat.
During winter, later morning starts may be preferable depending on weather conditions.
Your final starting time will be confirmed before the tour.

Rental Bike Included
All our cycle tours include the use of a high-quality rental bike. Our standard rental fleet consists of well-maintained carbon Trek Madone disc and Trek Émonda disc road bikes, ideal for enjoying Cape Town’s spectacular roads and mountain passes.
Your bike rental includes:
- Helmet
- Pedals
- Puncture repair equipment
For riders who would like a little extra assistance, we also have a small fleet of Specialized Creo E-road bikes. These are a great option for less experienced or less fit riders who still want to enjoy the full tour together with the group.

For experienced road cyclists looking for a rewarding mountain challenge. Tackle the main climb, enjoy spectacular views and experience the winding mountain roads of Bainskloof.
Extended Bainskloof and Winelands Ride
A longer ride combining Bainskloof Pass with additional kilometres through Wellington and the surrounding Winelands. Best suited to strong cyclists who enjoy longer distances and sustained climbing.

No problem! We adjust the route, distance and pace to suit your experience and fitness. Faster riders can ride ahead on suitable climbs, with the group regrouping at agreed points.
